Through the Pale Door

Animation and Production Bible
University Brief: January-April 2008 (complete)

This project ... I must admit, it felt like it took forever to complete, even though it wasn't a particularly huge one! The brief was a fairly simple one, based around coming up with a detailed pack of materials from which a final 4th year animation could be created, consiting of three final main outcomes: a production bible, this being a detailed document that can be referred to for all purposes during the creation of the animation; a full-length animatic, including a 10-30 second section of sample animation; and all the storyboards and dope-sheets required for the final production.

Animatic/Animation
I've gone into more detail about the animation side of this in the animation section of my site; it can be viewed here.

Production Bible
The production bible actually involved the largest amount of work by far: over 40 pages of text and (partially coloured) illustration, compiled entirely by myself. My Animation class was given this as the main section of the brief, with a list of what had to be included and the requirement that it had to be submitted as a bound document; as far as I saw at our final hand-in for the year, these seemed to range between twenty to sixty pages. I finished mine with silver wire-o binding, a transparent plastic front-cover and a black leather-effect back cover, and must admit I was very pleased at the outcome; it gained quite a few compliments!
(On this note, if you ever need a colour document bound and printed in Glasgow then I would highly recommend The Copy And Print Shop on Gibson St [around the corner from the Queen Margaret Union, I believe], the print quality was absolutely sublime!)
